About HANA Center
HANA Center serves the Chicago, IL community and surrounding Chicagoland area with comprehensive social services, education programs, cultural initiatives, and community organizing efforts. The organization provides critical support including public benefits assistance, job placement services, housing assistance, and counseling to help Korean American, Asian American, and multiethnic immigrant communities thrive. HANA Center operates from two convenient locations—the main Chicago center and a Northwest center in Prospect Heights—to maximize accessibility for the diverse populations they serve. The organization empowers communities through multiple service pathways: individuals seeking support can access public benefits, employment assistance, and housing resources; those interested in civic engagement can volunteer through phonebanking, tutoring, and community campaigns focused on immigrant justice; and donors can contribute to critical social services and support for recent arrivals. Since its founding in February 2017 through the strategic merger of Korean American Community Services (established 1972) and Korean American Resource and Cultural Center (established 1995), HANA Center has combined decades of community expertise with a powerful organizing tradition. The organization is specifically committed to advancing human rights and serving diverse community members including immigrants, women, youth, people of color, low-income families, older adults, LGBTQ+ individuals, and adoptees. By integrating social services, education, cultural programming, and advocacy, HANA Center builds systemic power and creates meaningful change for underserved populations throughout Chicago and the broader region.
