Korean American Association of Chicago

The Korean American Association of Chicago (KAAC) serves as a comprehensive resource and advocacy organization dedicated to supporting the Korean American community across the Chicago metropolitan area and throughout Illinois. Since its establishment in 1962, KAAC has evolved into the official representative body for approximately 150,000 Korean Americans in the state, providing essential services and guidance on critical matters including U.S. culture, economy, education systems, social services, and political engagement. The organization functions as a vital information center, offering necessary counsel to Korean Americans navigating life in the United States while simultaneously promoting awareness and appreciation of Korean culture to other ethnic groups throughout the region. KAAC actively works to bridge the Korean American community with mainstream U.S. society and businesses, facilitating meaningful connections and partnerships that strengthen economic and social integration. Beyond community support, the organization plays an important diplomatic role, promoting Chicago to Korea and contributing to enhanced public relations between the United States and Korea. With a strong institutional presence in Chicago, including its own dedicated facility acquired in 1981—a historic first among Korean American associations nationwide—KAAC continues to expand its capacity to serve the community.
