About Korean American Coalition Los Angeles
The Korean American Coalition Los Angeles (KAC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing comprehensive civic engagement, advocacy, and community empowerment services to the Korean American community. Since 1983, KAC has delivered specialized programs addressing the unique needs of Korean Americans in Los Angeles, CA, including voter registration and civic participation initiatives, alternative dispute resolution services through the 4.29 ADR Center, and targeted leadership development programs.
KAC's advocacy services focus on promoting civic and civil rights interests through bilingual representation and direct engagement with government agencies, elected officials, and community organizations. The organization has successfully assisted over 40,500 immigrants in becoming U.S. citizens and registered voters while removing systemic and linguistic barriers to full community participation. Their alternative dispute resolution services, established following the 1992 Los Angeles civil unrest, provide specialized mediation and conflict resolution for diverse ethnic populations throughout Los Angeles County.
The organization's leadership development program offers hands-on training, mentorship, and professional resources for students and emerging community leaders. KAC also provides information and referral services for the Korean American community, with particular focus on supporting low-to-moderate income households. As a bilingual, non-partisan membership organization serving the 1.9 million strong Korean American community, KAC maintains active coalitions with other ethnic communities and government agencies to ensure responsive, equitable policymaking that reflects community needs and concerns.
