Korean American Medical Association

The Korean American Medical Association (KAMA), headquartered in Englewood Cliffs, NJ, is a nationally recognized professional organization dedicated to advancing the medical practice and careers of Korean American physicians. Since its founding in 1974, KAMA has evolved into a scientifically and politically active organization with significant influence in healthcare policy and professional development. As an official Specialty and Service Society of the American Medical Association, KAMA holds a unique voting seat in the AMA House of Delegates, enabling Korean American physicians to introduce and vote on resolutions that shape national healthcare policies. The organization provides comprehensive support through academic collaboration, scientific networking, and institutional partnerships with leading medical organizations including the Korean Medical Association, Korean American Medical Students Association, and Korean Health and Ministry Departments. KAMA facilitates professional growth through regional chapters, mentorship programs, and annual scientific conventions featuring keynote speakers and leading medical professionals. The association actively supports the development of future Korean American physicians through the Korean American Medical Student Association (KAMSA) and the Korean American Medical Resident and Fellow Association (KAMRAF). With three consecutive women presidents serving from 2020-2023 and a commitment to diversity and inclusion, KAMA continues to champion clinical and academic excellence within the Korean American physician community while maintaining its legacy of bridging generations of medical professionals across the United States.
